Who, What and Where...
A visit from Doctor Christopher Drew CStJ GCLJ KMLJ

A few years ago the then Deputy Chancellor of the Grand Priory of England, Wales, Isle of Man and Channel Islands, Doctor Chris Drew, left these shores and retired to Hobart, Tasmania.

Chris, originally an Australian educated at Eton, spent many years working in medicine and the drug industry in the UK. He is married to Helene, also an Australian, and a doctor, who is now working in Hobart.

As a Knight Grand Cross in the Order Chris is a member of the Grand Council of the United Grand Priories of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem and a provider of sage counsel to the Master-General when requested.

As one of the Founders of our Confraternity in 1995, Chris was instrumental in directing the Order towards its present successful path. He is the current Delegate for The Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, in Tasmania and, as such, represents the core values of our Confraternity in a meaningful and sincere way in that part of the world.

Chris and the Master-General were both members of the Ceremonial Team of The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and, prior to leaving these shores, Chris was awarded the rank of Commander in that Order.

Recently Chris and Helene made a visit to London and the Master-General was delighted to have an opportunity to dine with them. Chris is now the proud possessor of a pair of the Order’s stylish cuff-links which no doubt he will wear when visiting, as a friend, the Australian Branch of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem in Hobart.

It is hoped that Chris and Helene will be able to time their next visit to the UK to coincide with our Investiture in September 2010. They will both be very warmly welcomed.
