CALLED TO HIGHER SERVICE
Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 18:58

It is with deep regret that the Grand Council has to announce the death of its confrère, Captain David Michael Wright, a holder of the Colonial Police Medal for Meritorious Service; the Colonial Special Constabulary Medal; a Knight of Grace and an Officer of Merit in the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem.

David was a Freeman of the City of London; a Liveryman of the Honorable Company of Master Mariners; a Retired Senior Superintendent of the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Police and a Retired Assessor of the Supreme Court (Admiralty Division) Hong Kong.

He joined the Grand Priory of England, Wales, Isle of Man and Channel Islands, as an Officer (OLJ) 20th July 1997. He was promoted to Commander (CLJ) 10th December 1997, and Knighted (KLJ) 21st March 1999. He was awarded the rank of Officer of Merit (OMLJ) 15th March 2004.

David was appointed the first Commander of the Commandery of Westminster, on the 10th December 1997, which post he held with great distinction until the 24th April 2004.

Our condolences and deepest sympathy go to his widow and family.

David will be remembered for his unstoppable enthusiasm and great sense of humor, and he will be sadly missed by all the Confrères and Consœurs of the Order.

Captain David Michael Wright was called to Higher Service on the 14th June 2008.
