On the 25th January, Richard Sheridan KLJ OMLJ, Vice Chancellor of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, sent £2,880 from the Saint Lazarus Hospice Association to Sam Beare Hospice for the purchase an Alaris Volumteric Pump. Weighing in at 2.5kg, this sophisticated peice of machinery can deliver a constant rate of infusion with 5% accuracy at between 1-1200mL/hour for infusion therapy. It can deliver blood, general fluids and drugs for a wide range of applications, and features a variety of failsafe alarms and warning systems.
Sam Beare needs to raise £2m per year to maintain its high quality Services, and is currently fundraising for an extra £1.2m to cover the increasing costs of helthcare. It had to suspend services at the Richard Jenner Daycare Unit to contain costs, but the medical element of the Day Care service (for example blood transfusion and intravenous drug deliver)y continues to be provided.

A Celebration of 15 years.
The 31st Investiture will be held on Saturday September 25th 2010 in the Priory Church of Saint Bartholomew’s at Smithfield, London. The service will include the Tenebrae Choir directed by Nigel Short, with the organ and trumpeters of the Priory Church.
Members of the public are most welcome to join us in our celebration and prayers. Contact the Secretary General to ensure a place.
